Kids Love Butterflies

Do you like butterflies? Well I do and if you want to see colors fly check out the National Butterfly Center in Rio Grande Valley, TX.,  located about a mile from the Texas-Mexico Border. Here you can learn about the migration of butterflies.

Points of interest include three must see stops within the park where children can interact with butterflies at different levels. The Butterfly Gardens is designed to attract different butterflies in flight during migration periods. This area gives butterflies a chance to refuel during long journeys to different destinations. The Observation Deck allows children to watch these delicate creatures in flight. The elevated platform gives a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape where they can watch see butterflies flit from place to place. The Butterfly House is an enclosed habitat where kids can interact with the butterflies.  It’s a great way to learn about these natural beauties.

You want to plan your adventure during the best times to visit.  The springtime months of March – May provides ample food supplies for hungry travelers during migration.  The fall months of September -November is a good time to see the Monarchs in action.  And you don’t want to miss The Texas Butterfly Festival which coinsides with peak migration times.

And don’t forget to bring along your binoculars and cameras as well as those happy kids.
